Nikon is pleased to announce its continuing association with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) following an official sponsorship for the AFC Champions League 2015.
As one of the official sponsors, Nikon logo is visible around the pitch at all matches, as well as on the photographers' bibs. A Nikon Service Depot at selected matches also provides technical and equipment support with camera maintenance and equipment rental for the matches’ accredited photographers.
The AFC Champions League 2015 kicked off on 24 February with a total of 32 club teams competing for the coveted qualification spot in the FIFA Club World Cup to be held in December. The matches are broadcasted across various countries and regions, with focus on Asia in particular.
In addition to the AFC Champions League, Nikon is also a proud sponsor of the AFC Cup 2015, an annual international competition that involves 32 clubs from AFC-affiliated nations ranked outside of the top 14 Asian countries. The AFC Cup winner will have an opportunity to compete in the qualifier of the following year's AFC Champions League.
Nikon was also the official supporter of the highly successful AFC Asian Cup 2015, where host nation Australia scored a 2-1 victory over Korea Republic at Sydney’s Stadium Australia. The tournament, held from 9 January to 31 January, was one of the most-watched and followed sporting events, as the winner is crowned champion of Asia football and qualify for the illustrious FIFA Confederations Cup 2017.
